"I first met Helen when she came to visit my sister in her care home in Whitley Bay. My sister was suffering from complex dementia and being nursed on a low bed ( floor level)and according to the manager/staff and NHS she was beyond help.
My sister was in bed on Helen’s arrival, she raised the bed to normal level and sat Lesley on the edge and by the end of the first visit Lesley had walked into the hallway with our assistance and a walker and using a handrail had done some basic exercises. Lesley went on to walk unassisted with her walker!
Helen was not only a miracle worker with Lesley but also a massive support to me at a difficult time in my sister’s life.
This new found mobility enabled Lesley to be moved to a residential home which specialised in dementia and enjoy years of excellent care with staff who understood her needs.
I had experienced similar pitfalls with my mother of 97 who also suffered dementia and had broken her hip. The general opinion is that people with dementia can’t take instructions….not always the case.
My sister and my mother were able to spend the last three months of mum’s life together under the same roof entirely due to Helen’s support.

When we first met Helen, Sue was uncomfortable all the time; only Helen could get her up, calm her down and help her to engage in the physiotherapy sessions, which she loved.
